This 5 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee habituation experience is an exceptional safari that is suitable for visitors who want to spend more time with the endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees in their natural habitat. The safari will take you to Kibale forest national park where you will be able to spend four hour in the presence of chimpanzees and also Bwindi impenetrable national park in southwestern part of Uganda where you will get a chance to spend 4 hours with the mountain gorillas.
Depending on your location on the first day of the 5 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee habituation experience, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Kibale forest national park. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours drive and on the way you will pass through Mityana, Mubende towns and have en-route lunch in Fort Portal. After lunch you will continue the journey to the park with spectacular views of the traditional homesteads, beautiful scenery, landscape, tea and banana plantations, crater lakes, Rwenzori mountain peaks among others. Upon arrival in Kibale national park you will continue to check into the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Chimpanzee habituation,
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 5 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee habituation experience, you will carry packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kanyachu visitors centre for a briefing about gorilla habituation. After the briefing you will enter the forest with a team of researchers, scientists, park guides, park rangers and start trekking in search of the chimpanzees under the habituation process. During the trekking you will be able to view different wildlife species including mammals like forest elephants, buffaloes, other primate species like red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, grey checked mangabey, olive baboon, view different bird species, tree species among others. Once the chimpanzees under habituation are found you will be allowed to spend four hours with them in their environment which gives you a chance to watch them feed, breastfeed, hunt, patrol, rest, play, fight, build new nests in the evening, monitor their habits, behaviors, take photos a mong others.
After spending time with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the lodge for an evening relaxation or optional nature walk to Bigodi swamp where you will be able to view different wildlife species including animals like bushbucks, sitatungas, wild pigs, primates like grey cheeked mangabey, vervet monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, red tailed monkeys, variety of bird species like the great blue turaco, African paradise flycatcher, different plant and tree species among others
After breakfast on the third day of the 5 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee habituation experience, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way you have en-route lunch and enjoy stunning views of the Rwenzori peaks, beautiful scenery, terraced farmlands, Kigezi hills, traditional homesteads among others. Upon arrival in Bwindi impenetrable national park, you will continue to check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast on the fourth day of the 5 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee habituation experience, you will carry packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to go for a briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during trekking. After the briefing you will join a team of researchers, scientist, park guides among others and start trekking. Gorilla habituation experience is a full day activity and during trekking you will be able to view other wildlife species including animals like buffaloes, elephants, other primate species like chimpanzees, l’hoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, view variety of forest elephants, different trees among others
On the last day of the 5 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee habituation experience, you will enjoy a relaxed breakfast, check out the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala. On the way you will have en-route lunch in Mbarara town and then continue the journey to Kampala arriving early evening and upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop you off at any place of advise.
